The Road to Rio: Regions Building the Green Economy
The event, hosted on March 7 and 8, 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland by the R20 and the Association of European Regions (ARE), bring together regional leaders and experts from around the world to pave the way for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), to take place in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012.

The official outcome of “The Road to Rio” Conference, in the form of a Declaration of Regions, will communicate the crucial role of regional governments in creating a sustainable global future. R20 chair Arnold Schwartzenegger joined by a delegation of regional leaders, take the Declaration of Regions to the UN Rio+20 Conference next June.
