World Habitat Day: urban mobility

UN. Geneva, October 7 2013. The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. This year, it will be celebrated on Monday 7 October 2013. The purpose of World Habitat Day is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world that we all have responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns. This year, the United Nations chose the theme Urban Mobility because mobility and access to goods and services is essential to the efficient functioning of our cities and towns as they expand.

All the information and material on the World Habitat Day 2013 is available on www.unhabitat.org/whd and www.imacitychanger.org

In Geneva events will be held on Saturday 5 October and Monday 7 October. The programme is available on: http://www.forum-habitat.org/site/en/world-habitat-day-2013.
